  • Overall, my experience has been more positive after switching to a slightly longer 14G bar and carefully sealing the entry points. This appeared to improve comfort by allowing a small amount of natural movement within the surrounding tissue during normal changes in positioning. The placement has been comfortable, remains unobtrusive, and has not caused noticeable irritation.

While PTFE can be useful during the initial healing phase, I found that it flexed more than I wanted because of the length of the jewellery. For that reason, I chose a titanium bar from the outset. I also maintained a consistent cleaning routine using an appropriate irrigation solution to reduce the risk of biofilm buildup and support healing.

Based on my experience, I would recommend having these type of piercings performed one at a time with a short interval between them. This gives the tissue time to recover, helps the jewellery settle naturally, and may reduce unnecessary tension during the healing process.

Although starting with a thicker gauge may appear advantageous in theory, it can increase procedural risks and should only be considered with appropriate professional guidance. A more gradual approach, involving careful stretching over time after healing, may be easier to manage despite requiring additional patience.
