I do such mods for 27 years! The scalpel cut isn’t a good choice! Better to use a sharp surgical scissor. You have much more control to cut in the middle of the clamped line and cauterize quickly the cut ends of the cut. So no bleeding would be there and you can work much relaxter and more precise
