Having a full subincision helped in avoiding my urethra healing shut. Aside from that I used lidocaine cream to numb just behind the glans, then cinched a zip-tie as tightly as possible around it. Over the next hour or two I kept ratcheting it tighter as the tissue compressed. Once I was certain that the glans was completely numb, I anchored the zip-tie in place using two needles placed cross-ways through it, then got to work cutting.

I left the zip-tie on for about two days. I probably should have gone for three or four days, but the pain of the zip-tie at that point was pretty unbearable.

There was *some* bleeding afterward, but it was manageable. At that point, it only took about a month to fully heal.
